That looks awesome and I want it.
![]() 05/20/2020 at 16:53 |

That’s really cool!
September 18 67 would be my guess, Pinkertons were long gone before the 1960s.

People were serious about their milk crates back then

Ebay says about $80. And apparently the Pi nkertons were protecting milk until 1967...

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Well, it’s got the serial number in the top left, so it’s definitely pre-1976
Molded corner brackets w ere only offered on the C and R models of crates.
Font on the word “Warning” looks to be early sixties.
Bottom rivets were steel t hrough 1957 . These look to be galvanized so it’s probably later than that.
I used to have that exact milk crate. Traded it for a Johnny Bench rookie card. Wish I still had them both.
Rolled edges for the circle vents only came on R models manufactured in Detroit.
I saw a few of these at the Verzinkt show last week. Sweet.
Lockshore made two models, one with symmetrical bottom drains, the others are staggered. Need more pics of bottom.
I remember when you could pick one of these up for $10 at garage sales.
These are crap. Real Crate guys only collect wood crates. Galvanized will never hold their value. Might as well use the plastic ones to store your LPs and 8-tracks

The pinkertons are still around today. They’re not the same hired guns they used to be but they were definitely active in the 60s still.

$180 if it has the original milk

I think the name was mostly dropped when they were taken over by Securitas, which seems nuts, given the brand recognition.

I was going to say the same thing about that font

I read that in Conan O’Brian’s voice

TIL the Pinkertons are still in business in 2020.
![]() 05/20/2020 at 17:59 |

I think it probably got dropped because of the mostly negative connotation with it today. They’re mostly remembered for doing things like union busting and cracking skulls at the behest of corporate overlords.
They obviously did more than that, but they also did a lot of that.

Try it in a James Cagney voice. It's what Conan wishes he could do.

Are they more remembered for that, or for protecting the President before the Secret Service was formed? Sort of how Ford is better known for the Model T and the assembly line than for the Battle of the Overpass and the Nazi stuff.

Pinkertons are still around. I work with one.
